10.20.2015
Dear NHS57 Classmate:
Although our 60th anniversary reunion is approximately 2 years away, I think it worthwhile to contact everyone at this time. It looks like the principal activity of the reunion will be a long drawn out lunch at a restaurant. The only restaurant suggested so far is Burtons Restaurant in Virginia Beach. We will need to decide on a day (DAY) of the week and a date (DATE). Why not pick a mid-week day, like a Wednesday? The restaurant of choice will probably offer several meals. They will probably want to know how many of each meal a few days before the reunion. Usually a few last minute additions can be accomodated.
Tentative Schedule:
2.1.2017 - Announce DAY and DATE - this should give everyone enough time to make plans.
DATE minus 3 months (or so) - decide on restaurant and meal choices.
DATE minus 2 months - Announce reunion restaurant, meal choices and approximate cost. Begin taking "reservations" with choice of meal. No money will be collected up front; rather each person will pay for their meal directly to the restaurant the day of the meal.
Regular updates until the reunion date.
The reunion lunch is expected to last as much as 4 hours. That's probably enough food (and drink) for most of us for 1 day. But especially those traveling from a distance might like to meet for a dinner somewhere in the area. This could be the evening before or the evening after. I will be happy to coordinate setting up tables of 6-8 (no larger) when the time comes.
This is Email 2 on the NHS57 website. To find these Emails, go to the website at https://sites.google.com/site/nhs1957/home and click on "60th Reunion" page in the left side column.
Please also look at the "Deceased" page. Presently it shows 71 deceased classmates. I'm sure there are more. If you know of others, please send me the name and date of death if known. I will also insert a link to any obituary if you can tell me where it is (name of newspaper or whatever).
I will be forwarding this email to Helen Allsbrook asking her suggestions. (She has worked closely with the Class of 1956.)
And your suggestions are always welcomed.
