Friday, June 7, 1957 - Norview High School Commencement - there were 290 diplomas granted, 4 more after summer school. It is believed there are about 6 more classmates who dropped out or at any rate never graduated (from Norview).

Dec. 1957 - Superconductivity explained - John Bardeen, Leon Cooper and Robert Schrieffer publish landmark paper on how at low temperatures some materials can conduct electricity without resistance, what became known as the "BCS theory." For this work they won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1972.
