Seek, win, grow and send people in Jesus’ name.
The Scriptures. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God. 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12-13.
The Trinity. We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4, 2 Cor. 13:14.
God the Father. We believe God the Father is the infinite, eternal and almighty personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love, and is the first Person of the Trinity. He concerns Himself mercifully and sovereignly in the affairs of people, He hears and answers prayers, and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him in repentance and faith through Jesus Christ. Ex. 3:14-15, 1 Chron. 29:10-13, Jer. 10:12-13, John 5:26-27, 1 Cor. 8:4-6, Eph. 1:15-23
The Person and Work of Christ. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ--who was, who is, who is to come—in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return for His church and with His church in power and glory. Rom. 3:25; Heb. 7:24-25; Titus 2:13; 1 Cor. 15; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; John 20:31, Col 1:15-17.
The Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, in the present age indwells all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptizes them into the body of Christ, seals them unto the day of redemption, and that every believer is commanded of God to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 5:18-20; 1 Cor. 3:16-17.
Man's Creation and Fall. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sin nature and consequent alienation from God and came under the judicial sentence of death. Gen. 1:26; Rom. 3:22; 6:23.
Human Life. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God and in His image, so human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically and mentally challenged or disabled, and at every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. Therefore, we are called to defend, protect, and value all human life. Gen. 1:26-27; 9:6; Psalm 139:13-16.
Salvation. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that this faith is manifested in works pleasing unto God. Titus 2:11-14; Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; 1 John 5:11-13.
The Church. We believe that the church, which is the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born again persons in this age of grace, irrespective of their affiliation with Christian organizations. Eph. 1:2-23; 5:25-27; 1 Cor. 12:12-14.
Marriage. We believe that marriage is a reflection of Christ’s faithful love for the church and God’s faithful love for creation. Therefore, we believe in the Biblical definition of marriage as consisting of one man and one woman until death parts them. Eph. 5:25-27; Mark 10:1-12; Gen. 1:27, 2:24; Rom. 1:18-32.
The Final State. We believe that the condition and retribution of the lost and the salvation and blessedness of the saved are conscious and everlasting. Mark 9:43-48; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-15.
New Heights Christian Church was organized in Kent, Washington on May 2, 1990, largely through the efforts, leadership and guidance of Rev. Daniel J. Folden, with the help of a small group of believers. The church filed Articles of Incorporation on May 3, 1990 as a non-profit corporation and was known as Evangelical Christian Fellowship Church of Kent until March 21, 1995, when Articles of Amendment were filed officially changing the name to New Heights Christian Church.
Initially, the congregation met in the home of Bill and Kim Bowser. On March 24, 1991, New Heights rented space at the Carriage Crest Elementary School at 18235 140th Avenue SE in the Kent School District, until November 23, 1997, when the congregation relocated to Sunrise Elementary School at 22300 132nd Avenue in Kent. During this period of time a search was being made to locate a site on which to establish a permanent church home for the congregation. New Heights found property located at the southeast corner of 116th Avenue SE and SE 216th Street in Kent, Washington, and remodeled and improved this property for use as a church. During the remodeling of the buildings the congregation met in rented facilities at nearby Emerald Park Elementary School located at 11800 SE 216th Street in Kent.
The development plan for the property has been outlined in 3 Phases. Phase 1 was officially completed on October 14, 2002, providing the congregation with a Sanctuary building of 3,226 square feet and an Office/Classroom Annex of 2,304 square feet. Phase 2 would add an additional 2360 square feet to the sanctuary and do site work to meet King County’s requirements for landscaping, water retention and sidewalks. Phase 3 would add 1300 square feet to the sanctuary.
