How Scan works

Scan starts on the main page with the menu "Scan NAS for Movies".

It looks on your NAS in the folder for shared video files and all subfolders.

Scan always operates folder by folder.

If it finds a movie.nfo file in XBMC format, the content of the file is used for the movie entry in the App. Then it searches movie files in the same folder and maps them to the movie entry.

If there is no movie.nfo file, scan looks for any other xml.nfo file and uses the first one.

If the is no nfo file at all, scann searches for any movie files. If there are some, a movie file entry is created, based on the name of the folder.

If anything was found, further subfolders are ignored here.

Else, if nothing else was found, scan looks for further subfolders and scans them.

If the folder name starts with "Season" or "DVD" then the name of the parent folder comes also to be part of the movie entry.

Known Problems with UPnP

If you do not need UPnP, keep it Off!

Starting the App is slow down and navigation, scrolling and searching are also slow down, at the beginning, when the service is starteted in background and looks for your UPnP Devices.

Check first all Your Settings, if you have problems!

The NAS Server runs for a long time so the UPNP Server also keeps his IP-Address and Port. Any restart may change this.

Because, a UPnP-Server has its own file system, and nfo Movie Browser has only a SMB file link, the App has to search in the UPnP file system for the SMB file. This works fine on MyBookLive NAS with Twonky Media Server or Synology NAS. Other may not...

UPnP Render like a TV may often pushed On and Off. So every times they may change there ip- and port Adress.

My brand new LG TV Modell 2013 does so. The TV supports all my media files. But only Start, Stop and Pause. No Fast Forward, No Seek. If you stop playing you have to start again from beginning. Great...

Because of the new port address the App has to search again for the TV. This may take a while or you quit the App and start again.

You got a short message, if a TV Renderer Device is found (again) from the Service. You could switch off this message in the settings.
