The Georgia Academic Team Association
GATA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting academic teams and promoting quality quiz bowl competition in Georgia. In addition to our work supporting teams, GATA also hosts tournaments at the elementary, middle, and high school level.
Assists Georgia Quiz Bowl Teams
Provides resources and advice for new players and schools.
Helps facilitate communication between teams and tournament coordinators.
Works to build a quiz bowl community throughout the state.
Advocates on behalf of Georgia quiz bowl.
Is Supported by Competitions and Volunteers
GATA is supported by tournament participation but also gives assistance to teams that do not attend.
GATA is a non-profit organization and all board members are volunteers.
Teams that attend our events receive a full set of all the packets used (even the ones we do not read!).
GATA also supports the expansion of the game by awarding a buzzer system to one team at each GATA state level tournament.
Promotes Academic Competition in Georgia
Hosts high quality tournaments throughout the year, including the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school state championships.
Encourages strong academic questions which emphasize accuracy and depth of knowledge.
Revises rules as needed to create a fun experience for players while maintaining the integrity of the competition.
