Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

2020 has been a difficult year for many and while it prevented travel to the Albert & Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia to perform research on the Nelson & Albemarle Railway documents, it did allow time to edit and add to the upcoming book as well as identify additional photographs so they could be included in the publication. As always, the ROSTER of the N&A is shown below for reference. There have been updates during the year, but data (and photographs) are still missing for original N&A #2 and #3 (assumed to be small 0-4-0T locomotives) and N&A #8 which has anecdotal evidence of having a tender but no other real data but a lot of suppositions. Another point is the lack of detail on where the N&A locomotives were scrapped when dieselization was made (final scrapping about 1954). Always on the lookout for information or early photographs from the early years, if you have data or photos that are not referenced on this site, please contact us so that we can include that information in the book. The goal is to include as much accurate information as can be identified before the book goes to formal publishing.
