North East Citizens Action Association (NECAA) is neighbors collaborating together to build community pride - to enhance and preserve a safe, attractive, and prosperous neighborhood where we can live, work, and play. We believe in connecting neighbors and engaging business within our community. NECAA has been in continuous operation since the 1980s when urban development brought the community together to work with new challenges in our neighborhood.
NECAA makes up more than 2,000 households that represent over 11,000 residents. Our neighborhoods contain multiple parks, public and private schools, universities and the Kent ISD, a library, fire station, community garden, grocery stores, retail, many businesses, houses of worship and light manufacturing. Public transportation, bike lanes, and easy access to the expressway and highway allow residents to travel in a variety of methods. We are less than fifteen minutes away from downtown, the Medical Mile, and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The “Upper East Side” of Grand Rapids has lots to celebrate!
Our borders include:
North: Knapp St.
South: I-196
East: M-44 (East Beltline)
West: Fuller Ave.
Within our borders you will find shopping and dining at Celebration Village, Knapp's Corner (SW corner of E. Beltline and Knapp), and Knapp's Crossing (NW corner of Knapp & E. Beltline.
NECAA includes more green spaces than any other area within the city limits. It is just one of the many attractive features of living in this convenient, established, and welcoming neighborhood!
We are people-friendly and offer the best of city life, while preserving the appeal of established neighborhoods, family amenities, parks and a sense of community. We invite you to join us!
