ABOUT US

The purpose of NEADS is to promote the cultivation, propagation, and use of the daylily in home gardens of the region.

NEADS is a group of individuals that are crazy about daylilies!  We enjoy trading tips, ideas, and plants, and learning more about our favorite garden plant. We host annual or bi-annual plant sales, educational speakers, and hope to add exhibition shows and garden tours in the coming years.       Come join the fun!

HISTORY

The club Northeast Arkansas Daylily Society was first formed in November, 2008, by Gail Rasberry, of Bay, AR.  As a daylily "collector," Gail joined the American Hemerocallis Society in 2006 and over the next two years attended several state and regional events.  These gatherings were so much fun that she wanted to have a local club to participate in as well, so, she decided to try it.

An approved funding request to the state club, Arkansas State Daylily Society, allowed initial seed money for start-up costs, and were utilized for the printing of brochures as well as hosting the Regional President, Joe Goudeau, as speaker.  Joe traveled from Baton Rouge, LA, presented a wonderful program, and provided plants for all new members as well as additional plants to auction.

The members decided to forego a December meeting, and began meeting formally in January, 2009.
