Her recognition as the Warren Early College High School Teacher of the Year reflects not only her dedication to students but also her commitment to elevating math instruction across the district.
She applies the knowledge and strategies gained from Math Teacher Circle camps and NCCAT trainings directly into her school community—enhancing classroom instruction, designing engaging events like Pi Day, and sharing best practices with math teachers from elementary through high school in the Warren County Schools District.
Her Teacher of the Year distinction underscores the impact of her work: inspiring students, supporting colleagues, and transforming mathematics into a vibrant, meaningful, and accessible experience for all learners.
November 25, 2025- Innovator in Education and Workforce Development
The organizer of the 360 Degree Math Teacher Circle, Dr. Acela Recentes, has been recognized with multiple prestigious awards for her innovative contributions to education. She was named the Warren Early College High School Teacher of the Year for the 2025 school year and received the Innovator in Education and Workforce Development Award in 2025.
According to a feature published by WIZS News, Dr. Recentes was honored by the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina and acknowledged by the North Carolina House of Representatives for her groundbreaking approach to classroom instruction and student engagement. Her work blends culinary arts, research, and STEM to make mathematics more meaningful and accessible, helping students connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications.
These recognitions highlight her commitment to excellence, creativity, and student-centered innovation—values she continues to model through her leadership in the 360 Degree Math Teacher Circle.
March 27, 2026- Sharing Best Practices!
The organizer also shares best practices in mathematics instruction with teachers across the Warren County Schools District—from elementary through high school. Through professional learning sessions, collaborative planning, and demonstration lessons, she helps educators integrate innovative math strategies, inquiry‑based problem solving, and real‑world applications into their classrooms.
Drawing from her experiences in Math Teacher Circle camps and NCCAT trainings, she supports colleagues in strengthening student engagement, deepening conceptual understanding, and building a positive culture around mathematics districtwide. Her leadership ensures that high‑quality math instruction is shared, modeled, and sustained across all grade levels.
April 2, 2026- Pi Day Celebration
Students were actively engaged in the school’s Pi Day celebration, participating in hands‑on mathematics activities that strengthened their understanding of circles, ratios, and mathematical patterns. The event featured creative problem‑solving stations, interactive demonstrations, and collaborative challenges that encouraged students to explore the beauty and relevance of mathematics beyond the textbook.
