For the course Business Analyst (RMIT Online, September 2022), I used BA skills to work through the discovery phase of a provided project. The final presentation was a role play of a meeting to discuss the new system and proposed changes, detailed requirements and user stories, and potential risks that I developed over the 6 week course. While students did not engage in interviews or workshops, the course covered how these can be undertaken.
For the course Digital Delivery with Agile (RMIT Online, July 2022), I described an experiment introducing retrospectives with staff and students in an organisation considered as pre-Agile. The study included a survey to collect feedback from participants on their views of the retrospectives. Respondents noted that the retrospectives were valuable for reflecting on the subject and correctly identified the purpose of the retrospective using the Heart of Agile principles. The course provided a toolkit for undertaking further experiments in the workplace along with evaluation practices.
Drawing together several code samples for the Android unit, I developed an app that allowed users to experiment with different cell-based generations, including cellular automata and hitomezashi. The app also provided advice on binary representation. Firebase was used for data.
This app was a sample custom app for the Android unit, aimed at keeping students in the unit up to date with their assessment tasks. The app demonstrated the features students needed to build in their own apps, including Snackbars and RecyclerViews. Firebase was used for data and notifications.
I developed a requirements specification, an architectural specification, and implemented and tested a new staff management system (PHP/MySQL) in consultation with stakeholders. The resulting system, launched in Jan 2006, was used to hire and coordinate staff until being replaced with a newer version in semester 1 2015, which was itself retired at the end of 2019.
During 2011 I was a project officer on a casual basis in the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne, assisting their IT team with various projects.
