NANOMELIs @ MtA

The Nanomeli group at Mount Allison University explores the self-assembly of nanoparticles into films at interfaces (air/water and oil/water).  Our research uses the Langmuir film balance technique to measure the properties of nanoparticle monolayers in response to compression, and couple this information primarily with optical spectroscopy, electron and atomic force microscopy to understand the structure-property relationships of these films.  Our research has recently been emphasizing nanoparticle-nanoparticle interactions, nanoparticle mixing interactions and implications on self-assembly.  In addition our research can inform  many fields of nano science, including sensing, nano-composites, SERS, nano-electronics and plasmonics.
