is an international space advocacy organisation based in Paris, and founded in 1951 as a non-governmental organization to establish a dialogue between scientists around the world and to lay the information for international space cooperation. It has over 340 members from 68 countries across the world. They are drawn from space agencies, companies, universities, professional associations, government organizations and learned societies. It is linked with the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL)
Over 40 administrative and technical committees support the Federation in its mission to advance knowledge about space and to foster the development of space assets by facilitating global cooperation.
At its annual International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and other thematic conferences, the IAF brings its multidisciplinary and international network to life.

Who participates and publishes their work at the IAC? Anyone who is anyone in the realm of the space industry will be in attendance. All sorts of important and interesting people will be coming to IAC 2017 including Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and popular science communicator Bill Nye!
There will also be various Heads of major space agencies as well as current and former astronauts from all around the world. There’ll be over 80 sponsors and exhibitors showing off all the latest advancements in space technology too. It’s anticipated that up to 4,000 delegates, both local and international, will attend the conference.
Elon Musk will deliver a short address to delegates on Friday 29 September in the afternoon. He will be providing an update on his plans for settling Mars. His talk will also be live-streamed globally and you can bet that we have some exciting plans around this.
