The Miami Valley Model Yacht Club is the heart of radio‑control sailing in Dayton, Ohio. As an AMYA‑sanctioned Club (#73, Region 4), we race true one‑design classes using the same rules as full‑size sailing—fast, fair, and incredibly fun.
Our members love sharing the joy of radio sailing and are always happy to teach, mentor, and help anyone who wants to learn. We welcome sailors of all ages and all abilities. You’ll find every kind of skipper here—from those who enjoy a relaxing sail from a lawn chair to passionate racers who pace the shoreline, fully locked into the action.
Our skill levels are just as diverse. We have first‑time sailors, seasoned hobbyists, and even national and international champions in both full‑size and RC sailing. No matter where you’re starting from, you’ll fit right in.
We sail twice a week primarily on Wednesday's and Sundays at 1pm on the north side of Deer Meadow Park in Moraine, Ohio—a beautiful, easy‑access spot that’s perfect for radio‑control sailing. The park is just minutes from downtown Dayton and conveniently located right off I‑75, making it simple for new sailors and visitors to join us on the water.

If you’re curious about radio‑control (RC) sailing—whether you’re brand‑new to the hobby or have sailed full‑size boats—the Miami Valley Model Yacht Club would love to meet you. We invite you to stop by while we’re on the water and see what RC sailing is all about.
The first step is simple: send us an email, and one of our friendly club members will reach out to answer your questions.
Next, take a look at our Club Calendar/Schedule and pick a day to visit. We sail from April through November, typically on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1–4 PM, weather permitting. It’s always best to double‑check the schedule before heading out.
When you visit the pond, we’ll let you try sailing a boat and walk you through everything—where to get a boat, what it costs (Annual Dues $20), and how to become a full‑time member.
After your visit, if you’d like to join the club, we’ll get you signed up and ready to sail.
MVMYC Racing Team
For sailors who love competition and adventure, the MVMYC Racing Team opens the door to racing at every level. We sail locally every week, and for those who want to go bigger, there are opportunities to travel to Regattas, Regionals, Nationals, and even World Championships. Several of our members regularly compete at these top‑tier events, proudly representing our club on some of the biggest stages in RC sailing.
