The School Teachers 1960 - 1972

The original one room School opened on 17th May 1960 and was located about 50 metres south of the highway and 60 metres east of what is now Morrel St.

It was constructed by Jack Compagnoni, John Moor, Phil Doyle, Tom Kelman, Peter Standish, Mike Spence and Charlie Dunn.  The original concrete slab remains today with a commemorative marker. The original building was relocated to Location 735 in 1964 to provide a bedroom for the Jamieson boys.

The present day School at the top of the hill opened on 13th August 1962 with one classroom and a storeroom and a house for the Teacher was ready for the commencement of the 1963 School year.  A second classroom opened on the 3rd March 1966 and further additions have been made over the years.

The School Teachers were highly respected members of the Community and all made outstanding contributions.
