The current route under consideration for Day 6 (SD wpts, Red on the map, 208 miles) begins at Thursdays camp at the head of Sheep Creek, descends Medicine Lodge Creek to Hwy 324 near Grant. The Bannack Cutoff road is then taken to Bannack, to Hwy 278. Following Grasshopper Creek North along the Pioneer Mountains National Scenic Byway to Polaris, Wise River, Wisdom, Chief Joseph Pass to 93 North to Darby.

Road Agent's Rock may provide an interesting side trip outside of the Bannack Ghost Town, suggested by Horse607 (See #4 on the Other Routes & Tracks page for a track ) given time (and gas). The Big Hole Battlefield may also be of interest on this day.

Horse_607 has provided a track out of Bannack, past Road Agent's Rock, passing through Argenta, and looping back to Hwy 278 with MORE DIRT! The track is in RoadAgentRock-278_Horse607.gpx, (See #4 on the Other Routes & Tracks page for more.) Here are some of Horse's pix.

Gas should be available between Hwy 278 and Elkhorn Hot Springs, just South of Maverick Mountain Ski area at the Grasshopper Inn.
