The route from Garnet to Marysville has two legs:

    1. Garnet to Lincoln.

    2. Lincoln to Marysville.

The primary route under consideration (GM wpts, Red on the map, 114 miles) follows the Garnet Range Rd (Backcountry Byway ?) NW to Hwy 200 then back East to North of Browns lake, up Rock Cr. Rd, Huckleberry Pass Rd, North Beaver Cr. Rd. to Lincoln for the first leg.

The second leg for the primary route route goes toward Stemple Pass turning SE along Lost Horse Creek to Marsh Cr. road West of Davis Gulch to Little Prickly Pear Creek to Marysville. ( Some riders may want go to Stemple Pass before turning South on Marsh Creek.)

Inmate "v8toilet" has provided a GPS Track for this leg that follows the planned route with the exception of the beginning leaving Lincoln and the end approach to Marysville. Waypoints for v8's track are here and his comments are here (#5). Some of v8's pix are shown below.

LEG 1 ALTERNATES

There are two possible alternates for the first leg out of Garnet. The first (GHP wpts, Blue, 53 miles) goes south from Garnet to Hucklebery Pass Rd via Drummond. The leg follows First Chance Gulch, then West along Deep Creek turning South to Rattler Gulch. The leg then follows Edwards Gulch to Drummond. From Drummond, the leg follows I-90 to Exit 162 and turns North on Hwy 271 to Helmville, 141 past Browns Lake to Cooper Lake Rd, Huckleberry Pass Road, etc.

The second alternate for the first leg out of Garnet (GBL wpts, red dash, 30 miles) follows McElwain fire road, Summit Cabin Rd, BLM Rd. 2819, etc. NE through the mountains to Cedar Meadows, Browns lake. It's not clear that this leg is passable so isn't under serious consideration at this time.

LEG 2 ALTERNATES

The second leg is from Lincoln to Marysville and there are two possible alternates shown on the map.

The first alternate (PPMC wpts, blue) takes S.F. Poorman Cr. to Marsh Cr. road. According to jjmyzrider, "S.F. Poor man has som large puddles that will have water in them and there is a couple of creek crossings on that route. ... some people will want to take the eisier stemple route."

The 2nd alternate (SPMC wpts, red dashed) follows the ridge past Stemple Pass then heads south along Gould Creek, past Gravelly Range Lake to Marsh Cr. to Little Prickly Pear Cr.

The first alternate (Poorman-Creek-Marsh Creek-Little Prickly Pear) alternate would be a bit shorter, and the 2nd (Gravelly Range Lake) alternate probably a bit longer.

Chadx's 6/19 track was used to update the route to take Lost Horse creek to Marsh Creek. Chadx's track with some of Day 3 is here and his and jjimyzrider'scomments are here (#6)., 6/24/2010.
