A minimum of 500 hours of paid experience involving direct patient care hours is required. It is recommended that you obtain direct patient care hours in different medical settings, e.g., hospice, assisted living facility, hospital, underserved areas/countries.
Human Anatomy & Physiology: may be completed as A & P 1 and A & P 2; or can be a course in anatomy PLUS a course in physiology, both must include lab and must require a college level biology course as a prerequisite for taking A & P.
Organic Chemistry: one semester, minimum 3 cr. with lab
Biochemistry: one semester, minimum 3 cr. with or without lab
Microbiology: one semester of 3 cr., with lab
Medical Terminology: one semester of a 1 credit or 2 credit course
Psychology: one semester, 3 credits (lifespan, developmental or general psychology)
Statistics: one semester required; 3 credit minimum
College Algebra or similar: one semester 3 credits (will accept high school AP credit)
English Composition: one semester, 3 credit minimum (will accept high school AP credit)
There must be documentation of 1000 hours of hands-on patient care experience. If you currently are within 100 hours of completion of your hands-on patient experience, you may submit a plan to complete those 100 hours to GradPA@cuaa.edu, your application will be placed on hold until you notify the graduate admissions counselor of completion of the HC experience requirement.

As an applicant, you must have completed at least 750 hours of direct patient care experience* as an employee in a medical office, hospital, or extended-care facility. Acceptable roles include CNA (certified nursing assistant), medical assistant, EMT (emergency medical technician) or paramedic, radiology technician, ECG technician, LPN or RN, phlebotomist, medical scribe**, physical therapy assistant, surgical tech, respiratory therapist, chiropractor, athletic trainer and others. Patient care experiences obtained through the military (combat medic, field medical tech, etc.) are also competitive.

Pathophysiology does not fulfill this requirement.

Developmental Psychology (Life Span) - 3 credits
The course must cover the entire life span - from birth to death. Intro psychology courses do not meet this requirement. This course may also be called Human Growth and Development or Human Development.
Introductory Statistics - 3 credits
Must contain descriptive analysis and inferential methods.
A minimum of 1,000 hours of health care experience, which must include direct patient contact. Shadowing experiences do not count toward this requirement. Volunteer hours may be considered at half of the total amount if direct patient care is evident.
