Required Instrument Supplies

Supplies are needed to successfully participate in the instrumental music program. A list of supplies are listed below for each instrument in order to help plan for a successful year in the instrumental music program.

Mandatory for all students:

Instrument in good working condition
2 Pencils
Folding music stand (for home)
Lesson book (see pictures below)
Required Accessories (see below)

Band Book

Essential Elements Book 1 - buy the one for your child's instrument (flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone bass clef, percussion).

Strings/Orchestra Book

Essential Elements Book 1 (grades 3/4, orange header) or book 2 (grade 5, purple header) - buy the one for your child's instrument (violin, viola, cello).

Instrument Specific Supplies:

Please put your child's name on their instrument case and book!

Flute: Essential Elements book 1, cleaning rod, handkerchief, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)

Clarinet: Essential Elements book 1, a box of 10 reeds (Vandoren size 2, blue box is preferred. D'addario, Mitchell Lurie, and Juno are also fine), cork grease, cleaning swab, Toothsaver/mouthpiece patch, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)

Alto Saxophone: Essential Elements book 1, a box of 10 reeds (Vandoren size 2, blue box is preferred. D'addario and Juno are also fine), cork grease, cleaning swab, Toothsaver/mouthpiece patch, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)

Trumpet/Baritone (Euphonium): Essential Elements book 1 (bass clef), valve oil (NOT key oil), soft cloth, mouthpiece brush, 2 pencils with erasers, folder, folding music stand (leave at home)

Trombone: Essential Elements Book 1, Slide-O-Mix, mouthpiece brush, soft cloth, small travel size spray bottle to keep in case, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)

Percussion: Bell kit with drum pad, drum sticks, mallets, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home), Essential Elements Book 1, The Performing Percussionist book 1 by James Coffin (see below)

Violin/Viola: Essential Elements book 1 (grades 3/4) or book 2 (grade 5), rosin, shoulder rest (recommended: Kun, Everrest, Resonans, blue/grey sponge with 2 rubber bands is also acceptable), soft cloth, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)

Cello: Essential Elements book 1 (grades 3/4) or book 2 (grade 5), end-pin stop/rock stop (recommended: Xeros Anchor Endpin Rest), cello rosin, soft cloth, 2 pencils with erasers, folding music stand (leave at home)
