Educational Philosophy

"As a music educator, I have two main goals in mind: to instill in my students a lifelong love for music and to foster their self esteem by developing their musicianship. As an grade school student, I had wonderful music teachers who inspired me to want to become a music educator and 'pay it forward' by bringing joy to my students' lives through music, as my teachers did for me. I firmly believe that every student can thrive in a music classroom, regardless of ability level. Not every student may end up as a professional musician or a music educator themselves, but every student who comes through my classroom can leave with an appreciation for the art of music as well as a boost to their self-esteem. Students will also leave having practiced self-discipline and perseverance that will help them both in and outside of the music classroom."

"Some people think music education is a privilege, but I think it's essential to being human. - Jewel"
