Welcome!!
If you are looking for information about Mrs. Zimmerman's math class or the videos that you need for class, you've come to the right place. From the top menu, select which math class you are in and then find the Unit that you are currently working on to find the videos. If you are looking for what assignments you need to do, log on to Canvas. If your are wondering what your grade for class is, please log on to the portal.
Canvas Login (What assignments I currently need to work on.) Parents, you can log on as well and see what your student should be working on in class. I recommend installing the Canvas app for parents. Then you can see what your student is doing without logging on to the computer.
ALEKS Login (The actual assignments and topics to be done.) Students, you will need to upload a screenshot of your assignments completed at 100%.
Mrs. Z, how can I get my grade up? You can get your grade up by retaking tests and working during class.
How do I retake a test? (This is IMPORTANT because most of your finial grade will be based on how well you did on the test.)
You need to do 5 practice problems on the concept that you missed from the test. You can find those as an assignment on aleks.com or sometimes a worksheet from me. Come to me for help with the problems or you can do them at home if you feel you understand them now. I will check to see if they are correct. If they are correct, then I give you the 5 question retest. If they are NOT correct or you have questions, then we sit down together and have a conversation about how to make them right so that you can correct your thinking. I will probably ask you to do 2 or 3 more problems and then I will give you the 5 question retest.
Do you accept late work?
YES! Just turn it in on Canvas. There is no penalty for late work.
Make a paper bag book cover! for another class because we are not going to be using a math book this year.
What supplies are needed for class?
1" 3 ring binder used only for math class
Lots and lots of paper (We will be killing a few trees this year.)
Pencil pouch with pencils and pens in various colors to make your notes look fun and organized
Dry erase marker and cloth to erase (We have dry erasable desks so we can save some trees. :)
Ear buds/ head phones so you can listen and watch the video notes during class without interrupting your neighbor.
Optional scientific calculator - I do have some to use during math class. I use the Casio fx-300ES PLUS if you would like to purchase the same for your student. Any scientific calculator that does fractions will work.
Optional graph paper - I do have some when it's required, but it is nice to have for other times
Homework helps
