Thanksgiving

In the USA, people celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a time for family reunion.

American people usually eat a big turkey served with cranberry sauce. They also have sweet potatoes and corn.

And for dessert, they often have a pumpkin pie. Yummy !

The story of Thanksgiving

In September 1620, a group of unhappy English religious people (the Pilgrim Fathers) emigrated to America. In 1621, the Native Americans and the Pilgrim Fathers celebrated the first Thanksgiving in America. Life was very hard when they arrived at Plymouth, and some Native Americans helped them to survive. They gave them food and they taught them how to grow corn.
