The students will be using a special portion of Khan Academy called “MAP Recommended Practice.” This is a unique program developed to help support each student’s math skills based on the student’s math NWEA MAP test scores. The lessons, videos, and practice will help close gaps and provide enrichment in four math categories:
- Geometry
- Operations & Algebraic Thinking
- The Real & Complex Number Systems
- Statistics & Probability
- Students will spend 30 minutes each week completing a portion of their MAP Recommended Practice playlist. Videos and Exercises count as minutes.
- 5 points if completed on time, 1 point off for each day the minutes are late.
- A late assignment will be given if the student is more than 5 minutes away from the goal.
- ALL missed minutes will be completed (lunch time or after school will be used as needed)
- Students should work in the category assigned for that month. For example, September will be “Lowest Score” and October will be “Operations and Algebraic Thinking.”
- Since Khan Academy provides enrichment to those students in high RIT scores if your student is in a category “>231” he or she will be encountering 7th grade and beyond concepts. Please remind your student that mastery is not expected. Encourage your student to watch given videos multiple times and ask questions of Mrs. Veldkamp as needed. Parents/Guardians are not expected to teach these higher level concepts.
