7. Course Overview:
The course focuses on interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational language proficiency. Proficiency will occur as students learn and use language in a variety of contexts. For example, in interpersonal oral communication, students are required to both listen and speak in the target language.
In this course, language is the primary vehicle for expressing cultural perspectives and participating in social practices. Through the study of a new language, students will discover that language and culture are inseparable. Students will also find opportunities to develop cultural insights and make cultural comparisons and connections.
