Syllabus 2022-2023
Welcome to AP English. Remember the goal of the class is to pass the AP test in May. We will look at critical aspects of several pieces of literature of merit and poetry such as syntax, diction, tone, and imagery. Throughout the class, we will be taking practice tests in order for students to master the structure of the AP scoring and format.
Discussion will be format of the class; however, writing assignments will be given accordingly throughout the term. Remember, this is an Advanced Placement course, so there will be more work involved.
Literature terms will be a main component of this class. You cannot expect to pass the AP test if you do not have an excellent understanding of terms.
No matter what your semester grade is, you will take each semester exam.
You must take the AP test in order to have this class count on a 5 point scale.
The AP test is $100.00.

Grading:
Late Work: Work turned in after the collection time in class is considered late. Late work will automatically be a 50% deduction without teacher permission. If you are absent, you have one day to make up the missing assignment. If you are absent the day a test is given, you will be expected to take the test upon your return without getting extra time. Online assignments are due before the class begins on the due date even if absent. If you are absent for school business, you need to get your work before leaving school, and it is due when you get back. Also, a pink slip must be filled out in order for me to grade your missing work.
The grades are calculated by a total point system. Extra credit will be given once a marking period. A list of acceptable projects are on the teacher website and will be posted on Google Classroom each term.
