Struggling in class?

If you are struggling in EITHER of my courses-your first stop has to be Homework Club on Friday's at lunch.

You can also see me during tutorial.

Please note that I change classes each day-I am in 602 on Even days and 305 on Odd days.

I am really struggling in your class, what do I do?

The following are my procedures for how to pick up your grade, should you find yourself struggling.

  • Check Infinite Campus and make a list of missing assignments. Send me an email with the subject line title “Missing Assignments” and include your list and the homework club (Friday’s at lunch) you wish to come in and do the assignments.
  • Come in during the designated meeting, at the beginning of lunch (bring yours and eat in class) and be prepared to complete all assignments, from the beginning, with me helping you.
  • All missing assignments from before the first report card must be completed no later than a week prior to the report period end date. All missing assignments from the first to second report card must be completed no later than a week before finals week.
  • For assignments which received a low grade, these can also be re-done for a better grade following the same procedure. Re-do assignments can receive a grade of up to 75% of the original.
  • Please don’t waste my time if you have a 98% and want an extra 2 points! To complete re-do’s, assignments must have received a grade of less than 70%.
  • Grades must be earned, I do not give points just for completion. I care that you actually learn the material.

What about extra credit?

Chemistry Extra Credit:

  • Extra credit is offered at my discretion.

Extra credit can ONLY be submitted if there are no missing assignments.

Every two weeks I will post, on the whiteboard, an important molecule or element in the Universe. Students can complete up to three reports on the significance, implications and discovery, which must be submitted to Google Drive no later than the Sunday two weeks from posting. Files should be TITLED your name and the topic. The doc should be solely the 1 page report. Students can submit either a 1 page double spaced (do not use half of the page for your title and name) OR a Google slide presentation which is presented to class (2-3 minutes). Each of these assignments will count as 5-10 points in the classwork portion of your grade.
