Bus Fuel Project
Project Description
Each year the Arlington Central School District must replace some of its bus fleet due to New York State regulations about the age of buses and the number of miles they have driven. Up until the 2015-2016 school year the entire bus fleet was powered by diesel fuel, but for the 2016-2017 school year Assistant Superintendent for Business Kevin Sheldon proposed that any new buses that will be purchased should be powered by propane (also known as autogas.) The proposal passed as part of the Bus Proposition that district residents voted upon in May 2016. Each May there is a new Bus Proposition to replace a few of the district's aging buses. Should Arlington continue to purchase propane-powered buses, or stay with diesel?
