FAQ

1) What are AR points and when are they due?

Accelerated Reading points are assigned to each student based on his/her reading level and the amount of time they should be spending reading. These goals are agreed upon by both student and teacher at the time they are set. AR points are due every 3 weeks then a new goal is set. Students read books of their choice and upon completion they take a quiz online, which earns them points towards their goal.

2) We recently went to the library or purchased a new book. How do I know what level the book is and how many points the book is worth?

AR book information can be located on www.ARbookfinder.com. This link can be found under the "Useful Links" section.

3) What is P.O.W and when is it due?

Paragraph of the week (P.O.W) is a weekly assignment which helps students build the fundamentals of paragraph writing and organization. The assignment is broken up into 4 days and the whole packet is due on Friday. Each week the topic changes but the procedure remains the same. The students work on their paragraph in class each day, and whatever is not finished becomes homework.
