At some point, usually at the end of the marking period, someone always asks me if there is any extra credit they can complete to improve their grade. You will be happy to know, YES there are some extra credit assignments that you may complete. There are TWO types of extra credit that are available to you all year long. HOWEVER, they need to be submitted a few days prior to the end of each marking period.
The First type of Extra Credit is Current Events
The Second type of Extra Credit is Independent Reading
Independent Reading requires more work, and so it is worth more points. It does not require you to read an entire book within the marking period. How much I will ask you to read is based on the book you choose. I have created my own classroom library with over 2000 different books in it. I created a website so you can browse through the books that I have and then I would deliver the book to you at your school. This assignment would have to be started earlier in the marking period than the Current Events assignment.
For today, I first suggest you go back through the tasks that were assigned to you throughout the week and make sure you have completed all of them. Then, take some time today and review what is required of you for a Current Event assignment. If you are interested in Independent Reading, I would suggest you first browse through the books available to you and then you can look at what the assignments would require.
Each marking period you may complete current event assignments for extra credit. You will want to go to the link below and read over the information and requirements for completing a current assignment and you may even want to get a head start and complete one or two of them today.
The link below will take you to our class library page. There you can browse through the books that I have made available to you. I have categorized the books by historical fiction, and non-fiction. I have categorized them by topic and by author. I have categorized them by paperback/hardback books and digital PDF books.
You may also want to go back through each day's tasks and make sure you have completed everything for the week. Next week we will be getting into our actual class work.
