When in uniform, you represent your school and the MRD organization. Wear your uniform proudly and treat it with respect.
Inner Garments
Must be close fitting and not show through the upper garments. No jeans, heavy sweatshirts, etc.
♪ Shorts/pants – are ok, but no jeans
♪ Shirt: Must be solid black and unmarked. Current year show shirt is allowed.
Half Uniform
Solid black shirt, uniform pants, black socks, marching shoes.
Full Uniform
Uniform pants, uniform jacket, black socks, marching shoes, gloves, gauntlets, beret or shako and plume as indicated.
When in full uniform, all uniform parts must be closed and worn correctly, and no garments shall be worn that are not part of the uniform.
When moving
- When not worn, uniform jacket is properly folded and draped over left arm.
- When not worn, shako/plume, facing forward, are carried in the left hand, palm up, with center three fingers curved around the brim and chin strap hanging below the hand.
- When not worn, gauntlets sit on left hand under shako.
- Instruments trail in the right hand.
When stationary
- Shako/plume are to be placed on the ground directly in front of the performer, facing the same direction as the performer.
- Gauntlets are placed on top of the shako, between performer and plume.
- Uniform jacket is to be folded correctly and placed on top of the gauntlets.
Classy Details
Accessories: No accessory shall be worn that takes attention away from the uniforms.
- No jewelry. Please leave all jewelry at home. No necklaces, earrings, rings etc.
- Long hair must be kept up inside the shako when the shako is worn.
- Long hair must be tied back and neat when the shako is off.
- All uniform garments must be worn properly, folded as specified, or hung neatly when not
- in use so as to remain clean and wrinkle-free.
- MRD Baseball cap is worn for Pep Tunes at football games and for parades
Guidelines for Behavior
- Speak appropriately. No swearing or speaking negatively about other bands.
- Never walk alone. Always travel in groups of at least 2-3 people.
- Walk. Don’t run unless told otherwise.
Consequences
- On the first infraction, students will receive a warning and 200 at attention.
- Every subsequent infraction will result in a loss of third quarter privileges.
