Very Important Note! Measurements
Measure around the neck right behind the ears and under the chin with a cloth tape measure. Next measure 3 inches behind the ears around the neck under the chin. Make sure on both measurements that the tape is snug but not extremely pull tight. This will help me provide you the closest size neck form available. Your butcher will not do this so take the measurements in the field or before you take it in. Note that your measurement is approximate and i will take final measurement to assure proper size.

Customers who butcher themselves and cape 'Leave about 8 inches or more behind front legs and all the way around the back. Cut off the hooves and leave the upper legs in tubes. Then continue skinning down towards the chin and then sever the spine and remove the cape with the antlers and freeze until you take it to the taxidermist.
Salting Hides When No Freezer Is Available !
Salting of hides should only be done when a freezer is not available. First take the proper measurements which for all shoulder mounts are the same as above. Next all the fat and flesh should be completely removed and ears opened up and turned inside out. You may proceed to split the lips and thin down by removing excess meat. Note. This should only be done if you know what your doing. Most outfitters do. Do Not ever attempt to freeze a salted hide because the fluids will accumulate on hide and it won't freeze causing bacteria and thus causing the hide hair to slip or fall out. Enough salt should be used to form a dry crust and the the hide should be stored in cool dry place not in direct sunlight or heat.
