European Origin and Early Generations of the Seeber Family of New York's Mohawk Valley, Including Johann Wilhelm Seeber (1721-1777) and his Siblings
My research findings from the Gsteig, Oberhoffen and Bischwiller church records are summarized in a detailed genealogical report entitled "Ancestors of Johann Wilhelm Seeber (1721-1777) and His Siblings." To view the report, click here.
Most of my findings are also contained in an Ancestry.com public member tree entitled "The Seeber Family of Switzerland, Alsace and New York's Mohawk Valley, compiled by Peter Bush." The tree includes sources and detailed information about family members born in Europe and America prior to 1775, the onset of America's Revolutionary War. The tree also has links to websites, and images of many of the baptism, marriage and burial records from the church books. The tree is public so that it can be viewed by anyone with an Ancestry.com subscription. Access to Ancestry.com is also available free at the FamilySearch centers of the LDS Church, and at many public libraries.
I would be happy to share the tree with anyone who does not have convenient access to Ancestry.com. Please send an email to Peterbushgenealogy@gmail.com with the words "Request Access to Seeber Tree" in the subject line.
My research is continuing, and both the Ancestry.com tree and this website are "works in progress." Check back from time to time to see information, references and documents that have been added.
There are many still-unanswered questions about the Seeber family (see the Remaining Mysteries page of this website). Future advances in our knowledge of the family will come only if we share our findings, insights and conjectures. Please do that by sending me an email (see address above), or leaving a comment on my Ancestry.com tree.
