The Minnesota Junior Winds (MJW) are proud to announce the 9th Annual MJW Honor Band Event, welcoming talented students in grades 7-10 for a day of music making on Saturday, Nov. 7th! The event will be held at Edina High School in Edina, MN.

About

The MJW Honor Band event is designed to offer a high level experience for students in grades 7-10. Students will be sent music in advance and will be expected to prepare all notes/rhythms. Students will work in large group rehearsals and small group sectionals with MJW Staff.  Students will be split into two ensembles based on instrumentation and recommendations from band directors and/or private teachers.

Directors/Private Teachers, please nominate your best students to participate. Students should have at least 2 years of experience playing their instrument. Please include T-shirt size! **  <2026 Nomination Form for Band Directors/Private Teachers ONLY> **. Nominations are due by Wednesday, October 7. Rosters will be sent out by Oct 15th followed shortly by music. Up to 8 students may be nominated per school or studio (limit 2 per instrument). Accepted students will depend on total nominations and instrumentation.  Please do not nominate current MJW students-send them to other honor bands events!.

Fee

$65 registration fee covers lunch, shirt, staff and facility rental. Online Payment will be due immediately after the roster is sent out.

Schedule 

Students will be expected to attend all rehearsals to participate in performance. 

8:30                      Registration (Lobby) / Percussion meets on stage/classroom for sectional @ 8:30am

9:00-10:15          First Rehearsal 

10:30-11:30        Rehearsal /Sectionals  

11:30-12:10        Lunch 

12:15-1:15           Rehearsal/ Sectionals

1:30-2:30             Final Rehearsal

3:00                       Concert at Edina High School (45-60 minutes in length)
