Mary I. Schmal and Leanne R. Ross
Mary Schmal has taught grades K-college for 40 years. Now retired, she has put her decades of writing research and experience into ten published works, six of them novels set in her native Wisconsin. Mary's high school students have won numerous writing contest awards, and Mary has been recognized for her excellence in teaching creative writing by Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Her masters degree work focused on writing instruction.
Leanne Ross, an accomplished art instructor and book illustrator, provided over 300 illustrations for Mary's novel series. Leanne developed an art curriculum at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, Minnesota, and currently teaches a variety of art courses at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
