Active learning means creating learning experiences that are open-ended enough that all children are able to enter! It is not the absence of teacher scaffolding nor the absence of teacher planning and guiding. Active learning increases intrinsic motivation on the part of the student and decreases management concerns. Prof. Jennifer Mehlberg
Prof. Mehlberg currently serves as a professor of early childhood education at MLC and supervises MLC early childhood student teachers. She has completed 17 years of teaching in early childhood or post-secondary classrooms. Her previous degrees are in elementary and early childhood education from MLC and a Master's degree in EC curriculum from Concordia University St. Paul.
