Partnering with Families To Instill Proactive Parenting

Do you find yourself holding back from jumping into redirect teacher mode as you overhear parent/child-student hallway conversations? At Parent-Teacher Conferences do you hear, “He/she is so behaved at school. This isn’t how he/she is at home.” Teachers know that our students thrive on clear expectations attached to routine, structure, and consistency. These same principles can be fostered at home. As educators, we can continually strive to provide parents with simple workshops, guest speakers, and Christian fellowship opportunities through our Early Learning Center programs. Dana Leyrer is a mother of four and has taught kindergarten at St. John’s, Wauwatosa, for 22 years. She has a passion for fostering relationships between school families that builds a network and provides a strong foundation for the school.

Carrie Henning is a mother of four and has taught K3 at St. John’s, Wauwatosa, for 9 years. Her love for children and strong belief in the importance of LES has led her to work in a number of ECE programs in various states over the last 21 years.
