The ability to read confidently and comprehensively is foundational to all other learning experiences. Therefore, students with reading deficits are at a disadvantage when learning and working in literacy as well as content area classes. This sectional will help teachers find ways to support students with reading deficits in all learning situations
Presented by Dr. Carrie Pfeifer - Dr. Carrie Pfeifer serves as an Associate Professor of Education and Special Education at Bethany Lutheran College. She has taught for more than 30 years in WELS elementary and secondary schools serving in a variety of roles. Dr. Pfeifer holds a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a doctorate in Education (Special Education focus) from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Pfeifer advises faculty and families, presents workshops on special education, neuro-education issues, and differentiation. She teaches as an adjunct instructor at Martin Luther College teaching the courses Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders, Human Relations, and Diversity in Education, and as an adjunct professor at Bethany Lutheran College as a part of the College in the Classroom partnership between Bethany and St. Croix Lutheran High School.
Dr. Carrie Pfeifer is wife to Dr. Gene Pfeifer, President of Bethany Lutheran College, and is mother to three adult children and grandmother to three very special grandchildren! She is a member of Peace Lutheran Mankato, Minnesota.
