In this section, we'll focus on the four "commonplaces of education" as described in the undergraduate textbook I use to teach education majors about social studies pedagogy. We'll apply the commonplaces of
to the K-8 social studies classroom and give examples along the way of how these important factors are to be implemented.
Presented by Dr. Jeff Wiechman - Now in his 29th year of ministry, Dr. Jeff Wiechman currently serves Martin Luther College as the Vice President for Academics. He previously served Martin Luther Prep School in Prairie du Chien, WI as an emergency math teacher and coach, Gethsemane Lutheran School in Omaha, NE as a teacher and principal, and Shoreland Lutheran High School in Somers, WI as a teacher and principal. Jeff earned a BS in Education from Dr. Martin Luther College, an MS in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and an EdD in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Jeff's wife Beth serves as an adjunct piano and organ instructor at MLC. They have three children.
