Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (5-8)

The presentation is based on the workbook "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. I asked the MVL art teacher Jason Jaspersen a couple years ago, "What skills do you want our children to have to be ready for high school art?" He responded, "Be able to draw." After talking to him more he advised me to read Betty Edwards. After reading and trying the workbook exercises on my own I started using them in the classroom with 7th 8th graders. I will demonstrate some of the lessons I used from the workbook that you can use in yours.

About the presenter - Macord Johnson graduated from MLC in 1999 and has been serving the Gibbon area since call day. He currently serves Prairie Lutheran School as a teacher and principal. I have three children, Mia (9th), Mav (7th), and Molly (2nd). He and his wife Megan enjoy watching their children's activities and going to the movies.
