It's easy to feel crushed by the many demands that are placed on you as a Called worker in and out of the classroom. How can you be expected to teach Art on top of it all, especially if you feel you that a ham sandwich has more artistic knowledge and skill than you do? There is hope! The presentation will leave you feeling better equipped to fulfill your Call and be a champion for creativity that your students - and our culture - so desperately need!
About the presenter, Lucas Boehm - I dipped my toe into studying commercial art before making my pilgrimage to New Ulm, MN to become a teacher. Upon graduation from dMLC, I became a professional learner of grades five through eight and principaling in El Paso, TX from 1996 to 2001. Since 2001 I've been engaged in a personal battle to not know more and more about less and less. My masters degree is in coaching and athletic administration and I try to put this to use in ways other than coaching and athletic administrating. Classes at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Carlton College, and the St. Paul Art Academy have helped keep my creative fires lit, along with reading and exploring the University of Google's School of Youtube. I have a potentially dangerous set of "strengths" in Adaptibility, Connectedness, Learner, Emphathy, and Positivity; fortunately, my amazing wife and two sons keep me grounded and faith-full in my attempt to live "like a tree" (see the first Psalm).
