Phonemic Awareness is one of the five major essentials necessary for young readers. This sectional will be an overview defining phonemic awareness along with phonological awareness and phonics. It will also discuss the importance of intentionally developing phonemic awareness in our young students as well as many strategies for implementation in the classroom.
Presented by Amand Berg - Amanda is the director and lead teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Preschool in Wood Lake. During her fourteen years of teaching, she has started three WELS early childhood programs. Amanda is the Early Childhood District Coordinator for the WELS MN District. Amanda is also the Early Childhood coordinator for Lakeview Public Schools and oversees all of the preschool and ECFE programming and events..
