Using novels in upper-grade classrooms has been fairly common for decades. This sectional will discuss effective practices for teaching novels, including ways to differentiate in a multi-grade setting. The presenter will share book titles he has used, but attendees are encouraged to come willing to share as well.
About the presenter, Benjamin Bain - Benjamin Bain has been teaching upper grades at St. John's Lutheran in Red Wing, Minnesota, for 16 years. He has used novels in his classroom all of those years in different ways. Benjamin graduated from Martin Luther College in 1998, and he earned his masters in 2010.
