Singapore Math (K-4)

Many times algorithms are taught, memorized and forgotten. Is there a better way to assist students in developing problem solving skills which can be used to solve many different types of problems? Singapore math stresses number sense, mental math and problem solving. We will discuss and practice some of the strategies used in model drawing which assist in the development of problem solving skills.

About the presenter, Prof. Joyce Diels - Joyce has taught mathematics at the middle school, high school and college levels. She has always been interested in aiding students to understand why the mathematics works and assisting them to develop a love for the study of mathematics.
