This review of educational and behavioral interventions for bullying in schools will provide resources for educators to help create a safe culture within their classrooms. Although a significant emphasis within recent trends in bullying interventions has been placed on attempts to prevent this destructive behavior this presentation will go into more in-depth recommendations to help all students create resiliency and improved distress tolerance for social conflicts.
About the presenter, Dr. Joshua Mears - Dr. Mears joined WLCFS, Christian Family Counseling in 2011. He received his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University-Twin Cities, an MA degree in Christian Counseling from Bethel University and his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bethany Lutheran College.
Prior to joining WLCFS, Dr. Mears completed his doctoral residency at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater, specializing in crisis intervention and aggression reduction interventions. Dr. Mears has years of experience working as an child psychologist specializing in child and adolescent behavior disorders and clinical testing and evaluation.
Dr. Mears has served on the ELS Synod Youth Board and is a regular presenter for their annual youth conventions. Dr. Mears and his family are members at Heritage Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN where he and his wife Laura serve as the teen youth ministry directors.
