Summer Assignments
AP Physics 1
AP Physics 1
Congratulations on choosing to take AP Physics! Not only does this class make your schedule sound super impressive, but it also means you get to shoot nerf guns and play with slinkies in school! You'll get to look at everyday situations and contraptions and finally have some answers to "I wonder why that happens..." Physics is definitely challenging, but it's like solving puzzles every day. Puzzles take everyone different amounts of time, so don't stress if you're taking a while to process a problem, or if you're the first one finished. Your teacher is a total weirdo who strongly believes in mastery learning and provides a reassessment for absolutely any grade. You'll always have the opportunity to earn the grade that demonstrates your understanding if you're willing to keep trying.
1. Read the Course Information for AP Physics 1. (Skim through this website and College Board's info)
2. Sign up for the Quest Homework System. All problem sets will be submitted through Quest. You must sign up for an ID here if you've never used Quest before. It's free for you, but you'll have to enter some of your personal information. Once you have your UT EID, login here and enroll in the course. The Fall 2020 course will not be available for enrollment until late July. Check back on August 1st or later to be sure you're enrolled in the correct course.
There are two ways to enroll:
1. Just click here!
2. If for some reason that doesn't work, do this: Make sure you're in the Fall semester 2020 (not Summer or anything from 2019) and click "enroll in new course." Enter the code "1505" to request enrollment in AP Physics 1 at Millbrook High School.
Once I confirm that you are enrolled in the course, you may view and submit assignments. Optional: Once you're approved, start Problem Set 0: Math and Science Basics. It will be due at the end of the second week of school.
3. Fill out the Student Information Form.
4. Complete this oh-so-difficult-and-terrifying assignment.
5. Read "Seven Things My Students Know In June That I Wish They Knew the Previous September"
6. Enjoy your summer and arrive on day 1 ready for a lab!
