Miss Jackie’s Studio of Dance
Dress Code
**Adherence to the dress code is mandatory for all
classes to ensure proper body placement.**
*Dress code listed per class is located toward the bottom of this page
General rules:
Solid color clothing; no prints, stripes, or words.
Clothing should be fitted; not too baggy.
Clothing must cover the body appropriately; No bare midriffs. Sports bras
should be worn with leotards that are too revealing front or back.
No T-shirts (except boys) or sweatshirts.
Ballet sweaters allowed on cold days.
Hair must be neatly pulled back. Long hair must be in a bun for ballet.
No hoop or dangling earrings. No heavy pendant necklaces.
BALLET & POINTE DANCEWEAR:
Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, black ballet skirt, and black or pink legwarmers & ballet sweaters (optional). Hair must be neatly pulled back - long hair must be in a bun for ballet.
Shoes: Pink Juliet ballet slippers.
Boys: Black dance pants, black shirt.
Shoes: Black ballet slippers.
Jazz, Tap, Baton, Acrobatics, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, & Hip Hop Dancewear:
Girls: Black leotard, light suntan tights, and any of the following: black Miss Jackie’s logo shorts, black dance shorts, or black leggings.
Boys: Black dance pants, white, grey or black T-shirt.
Tap Shoes: Black Tap shoes
Jazz & Baton Shoes: Capezio Oxford EJ2
Lyrical Shoes: Capezio Hanami Pirouette (nude)
Modern: Barefoot
Hip Hop Shoes: Hip Hop High- top with white toe and sole (converse style)
*Tights are mandatory in every class!
Additional Information regarding shoes:
Shoes must be proper fitting, professional dance shoes, not discount department store shoes. Expect to purchase more than one pair of shoes for the entire year. Shoes should fit the students properly, allowing for a reasonable amount of growth, not purchased to last for the whole year. Oversized shoes can be dangerous and do not allow the dancer proper control over movement.
Class Exceptions to Dance Dress Code Include:
Ballet P-2 on Monday 4:00pm- 4:30pm (Miss Bethany)
Tap P-2 on Monday 4:35- 5:05pm (Miss Bethany)
Ballet P-1 on Tuesday 4:00pm - 4:30pm (Miss Bethany)
Tap P-1 on Tuesday 4:35pm - 5:05pm (Miss Bethany)
HH Hurray P-K on Thursday 4:00pm- 4:30pm (Miss Jordan)
These classes still need to follow the dress code however they are able to wear colorful leotards. Please still have kids in tights, shorts, or leggings as well.
