The Lake Management Board Project narrowly missed obtaining the required 2/3rd minimum signatures from riparian landowners during the open petition period of 7/25/19 - 10/25/19. Following is an informational archive of documents collected and distributed to Silver Lake residents and property owners leading up to the petition period.

Lake Management Board Petition results
January 2020: After careful collection and collating the Lake Management Board petitions were turned into Dexter Township in early December. We received notification from the Township last week that after careful review the number of signatures collected did not exceed the total required to move forward with the Lake Management Board. Hence, at this time there will be no more action to proceed with this approach to lake water quality improvement.
Petitions to be signed July 25th - October 25 2019.
Township to make determination on resolution within 60 days of receiving 2/3 or more of required riparian freeholder signatures.
The Silver Lake Property Owner's Association voted to pursue the institution of a Silver Lake Management Board in the effort to control invasive aquatic species and to address other issues related to the quality of the lake. Petitions regarding the formation of a Silver Lake Management Board are being circulated July 25 - October 25.
You will soon receive a packet of information and a petition either in the mail or directly from one of your neighbors who sits on the Association Board. The packet contains:
Cover Letter (containing instructions and contact info)
Budget (projected)
Map of Silver Lake invasives (as of 2014 study)
Starry stonewort and Eurasian milfoil (brochures with photos and descriptives)
Management of Aquatic Plants (information sheet)
Petition (generic version at this link; property owners will receive a version with parcel information)
Each property owner and resident should carefully consider the short and long term benefits and costs of forming a Silver Lake Management Board. If you have questions about the petition or any aspect of the lake board project please visit our Lake Management Board Project page, or ask a board member, your lakeshore trustee, or the petition circulator who contacts you directly.
If you wish to sign the petition you must sign in the presence of a circulator or a notary. Return the petition to either the circulator or your shore trustee in person, or mail the notarized copy to:
