Research

I currently work at the University of Urbino as an Associate Professor in General Psychology. My research is concerned with language acquisition in typical, L2 and dyslexic children, as well as on language processing in adults.

From April 2018 to July 2019 I was the Principal Investigator of the project "IBIS tecnologie Innovative per il Benessere e l'Inclusione Scolastica" [Innovative technologies for wellbeing and school inclusion], at the University of Milano-Bicocca, supported by Fondazione CARIPLO. The project aimed at testing whether an inclusive didactic methodology could help adolescents with a neurodevelopmental disorder.

In 2017 and 2018 I have been involved in the EDUGATE Project - Multilingualism in early childhood education and care (funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme) at the University of Milano-Bicocca with Maria Teresa Guasti.

Since 2010 I have been working at the University of Milano-Bicocca on an European project (CLAD - Cross-linguistic Language Diagnosis) aimed at understanding the profile of Language Disorders from a cross-linguistic perspective with Maria Teresa Guasti.

In 2009 I completed my PhD at the University of Pavia, Italy. During my PhD, I visited the labs of Robert Hartsuiker in Ghent, Belgium, and Martin Pickering in Edinburgh, UK.

My PhD (2005-2009) research focused on syntactic production in adult speakers. I have also investigated linguistic abilities in adult speakers with genetic syndromes.

In 2011 I have co-authored the National Guidelines for the assessment, diagnosis and clinical interventions for Specific Learning Disabilities, promoted by the ISS (Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Roma).

I collaborate with the Italian branch of Bilingualism Matters (Bilinguismo conta), an international research network devoted to disseminating the findings of research on bilingualism, founded by Antonella Sorace.

See this page for some of my scientific dissemination talks on dyslexia, language acquisition and bilingualism.
