Meeting at the much-used Poplars Garden Centre, I was expecting about 8 cars. Some had turned up early for the good breakfast offered by the onsite café and most were chatting in the car park, ready for the 10:30 departure.
With an impressive 13 vehicles, a clearing sky and a chill in the air, we lowered our hoods and started our run to get those cobwebs well and truly blown away!
Our route would take approx. 2hrs and cover 50 miles, taking us through villages, some beautiful countryside and on some enjoyable driving roads.
Our final destination was yet another Garden Centre! However, Hartwell Nurseries is a good one. Sporting a large car park and a very good spacious two story Café with excellent food.
We lined up the cars for the obligatory photo shoot and enjoyed some good tales of the journey plus a bit of ‘tyre kicking’. Other visitors to Hartwell were intrigued by our complete display of MX-5 models; from Mk1’s right through to the Mk4 roadster and RF. Club leaflets and cards were duly handed out to potential new members.
After a short while, we headed to the Café for a well-earned spot of lunch and a hot cuppa. After a hearty meal and future plans and events discussed, we all left satisfied and looking forward our next club run out together.
