Bandai PG Falcon stand mount

One of the problems with the Bandai 1:72 “Perfect Grade” Millennium Falcon model kit is devising a good way to hold the model up “in flight,” as it were. The supplied stand is rudimentary, and actually just a repurposed plastic stand for an earlier Bandai robot kit.

In 2017, RPF member “Lab” produced a very interesting block design which glues neatly into the bottom interior of the Falcon. It allows you to attach a custom mount on the base. The block is intended to be 3D printed, and requires an M8 x 30mm nut, or similar.

You lose the interior of the underside gun bay, but that's the main drawback. The design also blocks the interior of the boarding ramp, so you won't be able to install an interior corridor detail either.

However, if you want to show the Falcon flying through space, this block system is a great way to screw the model to a tripod stand or whatever. If you have a long enough threaded post you can also use it as a stand to hold the Falcon while you're painting its underside.

Lab has generously made his design freely available as an STL file for 3D printing. And he also gave me permission to host the file here on Millennium Falcon Notes, for anyone to use. The STL file is linked at the bottom of this page.

Of course, neither I nor Lab offer any guarantee of reliability or suitability of this design – it's just a cool idea that many people may find useful! This STL file and the photos on this page are copyright © 2017 Lab.
