My research interests are mainly in the area of ocean surface waves and their relation to Earth system dynamics. I work on the development and implementation of coupled modelling systems for understanding of coupled atmosphere-wave-ocean interaction, it's variability and predictability on the weather to climate time scales.
My main working topics are:
Development of new coupled atmosphere-wave model in the framework of ICON-based numerical weather prediction operational model at DWD
Understanding the impacts of waves on Earth's climate in the framework of the ICON-based Earth System Model
Seamless prediction of ocean surface waves.
Ocean waves climate projections in CMIP5 and CMIP6
Employing large ensemble approaches for:
understanding of climate variability of ocean surface waves
understanding of variability, predictability and impacts of the NAO on wintertime climate in the Northern Hemisphere
